CHRIS was developed by the Government of Prince Edward Island and the University of Prince Edward Island. Funding was provided from the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Canada.

The pluvial (inland) flood hazard maps in CHRIS are intended for high-level hazard screening, public awareness, preliminary planning, and preliminary risk assessments. These results are approximate and not suitable for site-specific property or infrastructure assessments, which require detailed engineering flood hazard mapping studies. For site-specific questions or concerns, users should consult a professional.
